The International Planning Competition “Park in the new city fairground redevelopment area – CityLife” has been announced.
With the publication of the Public Announcement on 19 May 2010 on the Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana number 57- serie Gazzetta Ufficiale V Serie Speciale, the selection of the candidates is officially open.
The promoter, CityLife S.r.l., will announce a private, invitation-only International Planning Competition for the new park and has asked the City of Milan to provide the names of 5 architects/engineers who will be nominated for participation along with the architects/engineers nominated directly by CityLife S.r.l.
The text of the Public Announcement regarding the selection of the 5 candidates who will be invited to participate in the Competition is published on the websites www.comune.milano.it and www.city-life.it
Applications for participation in the selection process, including all required documents and materials required must be received no later than Wednesday, 30 June 2010.
Failure to submit the documentation by this deadline will result in exclusion from the selection process.
The announcement was given 21. june by the municipal councillor for the City Development, Carlo Masseroli, during a press conference at CityLife.
The new city park, measuring some 168,000 square meters will cost 16.3 million of euros and will be realized in three phases. The first lot within 2012, the second within 2013 and the last one within 2014.
The 5 selected candidates will receive notice of the Commission’s decision on or before 9 July 2010. The winner will be announced on or before 30 october 2010. Subsequent to the competition the winner shall develop the final park project by 31/12/2010.

Santa & Cole Landscape Architecture Competition

Within the framework of the European Biennial of Landscape Architecture, Santa & Cole, the Spanish Association of Landscape Architects (AEP) and the European Biennial of Landscape Architecture announce the first Santa & Cole Landscape Architecture Competition, a Europe-wide competition of ideas intended to promote and reward good professional landscape architecture work in Spain, as a new culture which modifies and enriches the surroundings.
This first competition will reward the landscape architecture intervention in the Valle de Sant Pere, within the Belloch property, located in the municipality of La Roca del Vallés, Barcelona.
The winning competitor or team, in accordance with the terms of these conditions, will be entrusted with the assignment of drafting the final design corresponding to their proposal.

International Competition – Call for Entries
April 1st started the international garden architecture competition best private plots 10 – Die besten Gärten 2010. We hope to spark your interest in the competition and would welcome your entry – please find the competition brief attached.
The award recognizes exemplary design of sustainable private open spaces, highlighting the garden as a place of innovation, as a space for creative expression and action, as contemporary dialogue between architecture, ecology and landscape.
The competition is being held for the 4th time since 2006. The award criteria include: idea, conceptual and artistic quality, ecological quality, use of plants and materials, relationship between inside and outside, delimitation of space and organisation of open space, technical planning, sustainability. Special attention will also be given to the individual diversity of use and functionality. The open space must be clearly identifiable as intended for private residence and use.
The prize honours exceptional achievements in the design of sustainable private outdoor space and gardens, which were completed after January 1st, 2000. This is an open competition. Landscape architects, architects, garden owners, designers, florists, gardeners, artists, nurseries and landscaping firms, as well as teams including a combination thereof are eligible.

Idea and concept
The private plots & public spots concept is based on an interdisciplinary discussion of aesthetic and cultural concepts in garden and landscape architecture by the landscape architect Karin Standler, the horticultural scientist Andrea Heistinger and the architect Robert Froschauer, and was expanded by contributions of cultural theorist Gisela Steinlechner.

Campus Leuphana University Lueneburg - 2010

The landscape architecture design competition "Campus Leuphana University Lueneburg" in Germany has been launched on May 3, 2010.
Landscape Architects are welcome to apply online at www.phase1.de/leuphana until June 1, 2010.
Aim of the project is the re-design of the outdoor campus facilities of Leuphana University in accordance with Daniel Libeskind’s key design principles as set in his strategy plan. The area extends over 15 hectare. In the course of the Leuphana freshers week early October 2010, involved landscape architects will be commissioned as Visiting Lecturer to support students in making a film about specific campus sites.

Internasjonal konkurranse - Kings Cross

Camden Council and land owner Network Rail are seeking expressions of interest from architects, landscape architects and urban designers for the design of a brand new, urban square at Kings Cross, London. The new square, occupying 7000m2 directly in front of the historic Grade 1 listed façade to Kings Cross must be able to cope with up to one hundred thousand commuters, visitors and residents every day. The anticipated budget for the project is six million pounds at today’s cost.
An international, two-stage design competition has been announced simultaneously in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and on a dedicated competition internet site (www.malcolmreading.co.uk/kingsxsquare).
The first stage of the competition invites a response from international participants before the end of July who are asked to submit credentials and relevant experience. From these responses a shortlist of six will be chosen to work up concept propositions, for which an honorarium of £6000 will be paid. These will be reviewed by a technical panel and a final decision made by a jury that will meet in early December., LONDON
The competition is being managed by Malcolm Reading Consultants in association with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Competitions Office. Toftegårds Plads Syd har i en årrække ligget stort set uudnyttet hen, og i sin nuværende form lever den slet ikke op til, at området er en af de vigtigste og mest markante porte til byen. Københavns Kommune har på den baggrund besluttet at igangsætte en konkurrence med det formål at få ideer til, hvordan der kan skabes et levende, menneskeligt og pulserende byrum af arkitektonisk høj kvalitet. Konkurrencen lægger op til at der også kan foreslås nyt byggeri eller andre former for overdækninger og konstruktioner på pladsen. Under alle omstændigheder skal det være en plads, som kan understøtte den udvikling, der er ved at gøre den sydlige del af Valby til et af Københavns mest interessante områder. Den samlede præmiesum er på 750.000 DKK med en eller flere førstepræmier på min. 150.000 DKK.
