- Five day Landscape Art Workshop in Ulvik

INVITATION AND CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
21. - 25. june 2010 in Ulvik, Hardanger

Stalheim and Ulvik Landscape Parks - the conflict between nature and man- made structures. Nature created perfection. Manmade structures, however, are often not so perfect. Nature and culture sometimes collide. This may not be negative, however, and with simple means these manmade structures may be enhanced, altered, added to or reconstructed to provide new meaning or visual impact.

In recent years artists, architects and designers have been used to construct structures at vistas on the tourist roads. These structures illustrate Norway's commitment to innovative modern design and architecture. The vista itself takes care of traditions. We want to stimulate, involve and engage the business community and residents of the region through a new form of reputation building. The aim is to create new activities and attract new residents and visitors to the landscape parks.

We invite you to experience Ulvik and Stalheim and to work individually or in teams with visual/physical solutions to the problems in question.

The workshop:

The framework is a defined task in art, design and architecture in the form of
- an artistic expression such as art
- land-art
- design
- architecture in the natural and cultural landscape

Art projects must be able to have a clear reputation-building character for the landscape park. A major goal of the pilot project is to gather experiences to include artistic, architectural or design expressions as a source of added value in landscape parks.
The week will be a combined professional and personal experience for participants.
