Presidents Bulletin 25. august 2015:
As you are all aware, IFLA is changing. This is the first of a series of bulletins to keep you abreast of the latest developments and to ask for your help in shaping the future of the organization.
As you know from my report to the World Council, informed by consultations with key external partners, stakeholders, sponsors and supporters, the work of the ExCo is underpinned by a desire to create a more inclusive, visionary IFLA, prepared to take advantage of the keen interest there is around the world in landscape and ensuring our members are well equipped to embrace the responsibility we all have to meet global challenges. Reflecting the continuing evolution of IFLA as it becomes a more professional, financially sound organisation, our work has focused on promoting the profession, establishing more effective advocacy strategies, providing better member services and establishing the infrastructure to set up a sustainable office. These fours sectors are taken forward in the action plan for 2015/6 and are reflected in the budget for 2015/6. An updated budget will be sent to you shortly, as discussed at the world council.
In two months time, the IFLA Secretariat will be sending out the call for nominations for elections. The roles of President, Chair of Communications and External Relations, Chair of Education and Academic Affairs and Chair of Professional Practice and Policy will be open for nominations. The IFLA ExCo is supporting the candidacy of the current officers for another term of two years. The elected officers will start right after the World Council in Torino.
The Honorary Treasurer, John Easthope resigned just before the World Council on grounds of poor health and I know you will all join the ExCo in wishing him a speedy recovery. In order to carry with the financial and budgetary requirements of the organization, the ExCo, following the stipulations of the By-Laws section 4.1.15, has co-opted an eligible individual to serve as interim officer. I am delighted to announce that James Hayter has agreed to take on this role. The newly elected Treasurer will start his/her duties on 1st January 2017.
IFLA is changing from a conventional approach to an online multifaceted platform. For news, events and frequent updates, please keep a close eye on our social networks and visit the weblink: http://iflaonline.org/newspress-releases
To follow the work of the ExCo and find out what we have been undertaking on your behalf – please refer to the website. We are now connected into a web of partner organisations including those of our growing number of corporate supporters. We have a rich resource of articles published by our volunteer writers and republishing articles written by delegates around the world. If you would like to contribute with articles (academic or not), feel free to send it to Bruno Marques at email@example.com. We’ll be delighted to publish your materials and make IFLA website a reference database.
The World Council in Moscow was quite a momentous event, as those of you who attended are aware. You will also know that we need your help – more to follow!

FAGUS - Center for Urban Greening and Green Infrastructure
30.04.2013 | Hege Abrahamsen
FAGUS - Center for Urban Greening and Green Infrastructure (Faglig utviklingssenter for grøntanleggssektoren FAGUS)
FAGUS is the umbrella-organisation for the Norwegian professional green urban sector and a resource center for professionals, organisations,
researchers and authorities. Through interaction and sharing of knowledge we are promoting the importance of sustainable green spaces and their influence on
human health, well-being, climate and environment.
Founded in 2003 by the organisations of the landscapers, landscape architects, nurseries, municipal park administrations, arborists and the churchwardens,
FAGUS runs a secretariat with one employee.
The objective of FAGUS is
• to make research and good practice available to members of the green sector
• to provide meeting places for members of the different professions
• to promote a common understanding of what is good quality and ways to achieve it
Main out-reaching activities are the running of an online counselling service for subscribers, and two major conferences for professionals each year.
FAGUS is also where the secretariats of the member organisations meet for strategic and practical planning of activities, and where the elected presidents/
chairpersons of those organisations meet as the voting assembly at FAGUS’ annual meeting.
There is no external funding of FAGUS, income is based on the online counselling and on profit from conferences.
